I'm relatively new to the hobby, so this may just be my inexperience showing, but I have never seen a green cancellation mark like this. I assume they are very rare - do you agree? |

Yes, green cancels are quite rare and popular among those who collect them, The Scott Specialized catalog adds a $100 premium to that #65 stamp which is otherwise a common $3 CV stamp.
And a US #1 that Bradnod just posted a striking 4+ margin copy, Scott adds a $1250 premium for a genuine green postmark. Without a certificate, a green pen cancel doesn't add much of a premium since it can be so easily faked. Still pretty, even if not real. |

Why would someone put a green MS. cancel on a stamp with a red grid already on it? |

Quote: Why would someone put a green MS. cancel on a stamp with a red grid already on it? I'm wondering the same. Perhaps there was worry the red cancel could be washed enough to be reused? Or it was added after the fact. |

Nice examples, ioagoa. Here's mine. p.s. Partime, the current Cyclospora outbreak only affects Iceberg lettuce. Romaine is fine. Made me laugh though. |

Hi ZebraMan
That's a gem of a stamp -- XF centering -- striking green cancel -- and plates to position 6R2L -- which is a very nice variety of recutting with a line joining the upper edge of the Top Label Block with the Upper Right Diamond Block -- and extending all the way out to the Right Frame Line.
They don't come much nicer than that !!

Here is a legit green cancel on a 5c 1847. True greens on 1847's are rare. This one is ex-Eubanks and has a PFC. |

Hi Tx --
WOW -- that Scott #1 cover is a rarity of the first order -- and with both the cds and the grid killer tying the stamp -- and with a matching green PAID to boot. Very nice !! Thanks for showing it.

That Bridgeport cancel and paid handstamp does exist on a few other covers. Very nice usage. |
