CEYLON: In 1938, a series of postage stamps featuring King George VI was issued and the two top values showed portraits similar to this design, the top value being five-rupees. The ten-rupee stamp similar to this one is inscribed REVENUE REVENUE while lower values used for postage are inscribed POSTAGE REVENUE. This stamp has both a manuscript defacing mark and a rubber stamp doing the same. Fortunately, it shows today's date 3 SEP 40.
