3 September 1940
CEYLON: In 1938, a series of postage stamps featuring King George VI was issued and the two top values showed portraits similar to this design, the top value being five-rupees. The ten-rupee stamp similar to this one is inscribed REVENUE REVENUE while lower values used for postage are inscribed POSTAGE REVENUE. This stamp has both a manuscript defacing mark and a rubber stamp doing the same. Fortunately, it shows today's date 3 SEP 40. |

5 September 1952 Koforidua, GOLD COAST is located in the eastern region of what is known today as Ghana. The two-shilling stamp was first issued in 1948 and the (SW) catalogue number is 133. 2000 TUNISIA. The (SW) catalogue number for this fruit tree issue of 2000 is 1464. It shows an avocado tree. Although I can see the date clearly on this stamp I cannot tell you where in Tunisia it was used other that a number which is the postal code: 7150. That covers many post offices in the province of Kef. 1911 PAPUA . The above two stamps are listed in the OFFICIAL section of the (SW) catalogue as number 25 & 26. The perforated initials OS indicate the stamps are for Official Service. They appear to be either favor cancelled or CTO (cancelled to order). They were postmarked at Port Moresby and feature the Lakatoi, a traditional, large, multi-hulled sailing vessel built by the Motu people of Papua New Guinea 1906San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, PHILIPPINES. The fifty-cent stamp showing Jefferson is #238 in the (SW) catalogue. |
