Sylvandale was a small short-lived town between Willits and Sherwood, post office opened Apr 29, 1911 and closed Sep 30, 1918. The office used one CDS.

Leguan is on an island in the mouth of the Essequibo River.


1938 - Apopka, Florida, US to Barbuda, B.W.I.

Apopka is near Orlando and Disney World.

1905 - Kuching, Sarawak to Rorschach, Switzerland

By the steamship the Rajah of Sarawak. An uprated postal card.




1909 - Guatemala to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US.

The stamp on the envelope was issued in 1902, and the Cosmopolitan Correspondence Club was active from 1903 onward through the decade. Unfortunately, the year date was not a clear impression.

Passed through Colombo, Ceylon (Oct 1), transits Tutioorie, Ceylon (Oct 2) arrives in Calicut, India (Oct 4). Calicut (Kalicot) appears to be the final destination.

1959 - 110 mile mark on Potaro River, British Guiana to Woking, England

Deciphering the town name on this postmark is a challenge. I did find another strike on a different cover which lead to figuring it out. Here is that other strike:

110MLS POTARO BRITISH GUIANA If anyone has a clear strike of this postmark, kindly feel free to post it.


I tried to pinpoint the location of this post office, deep in the jungle of Guyana.
However, as the Potaro River flows into the Essequibo River, I am uncertain to know where to begin counting off the 110 miles. Also, I was unable to find a reference to its location online. The red mark on the map indicates the location of the Potaro River.

Rohnerville, another Town and County postmark using Sept., the front was posted on 8/21/2017 and a cropped back was shown on 9/27/2017.





The above postmark (Hum-4350) was the 1st of 2 Town and County postmarks used by Rohnerville, California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 records it's use as from Aug 1, 1879 to May 19, 1881. Mine's almost a year earlier!
