The picture of the gentleman in question on Heritage's site looks like someone handed him a coffee cup someone
did a duty in.

While it has nothing to do with his qualifications, It's not the picture I would choose if I had just been made vice president
at a multi BILLION dollar company.

I don't know him, so I really don't know if that is his normal scowl or special for his new role.

No disrespect to him or Heritage, but it is not the most welcoming look I have ever seen.

Heh, that is kind of a funny picture.

Charles, basically had this job previously, with Steve Ivy and Tracy, and they built a very successful stamp auction business out of it.

Bill Gross, for the record, was Charles & Tracy's client if I understand correctly.

Charles is a very strong player in this business.

edit: and unlike the picture above I've always found him to be very personable and likeable.

I met Charles at the WESTPEX show in April 2024. He gave an excellent presentation on the Bill Gross Collection. I'd say he had more energy and stamina than most of the attendees there. Sad to hear about Tracy leaving Golden Oak. I met her at the Houston show last year. She was very helpful and fair when I purchased items on some unsold lots.

Absolutely agree the sentiment regarding both Tracy and Golden Oak. I never met Tracy but having been a bidder at Golden Oak pretty much from the get-go, whenever I would place a big on SAN during a live auction, she would always have a friendly comment for me as a lot I won closed. It felt good to be recognized and Tracy clearly knows how to keep her clients interested.

I grabbed a bunch of attractive US stamps from them like the 114 shown and then some worldwide issues once they started to actively auction those. I kept playing with them in spite of their rather "healthy" buyer's premium but backed off some once they got deeply into graded stamps.

Due to illness, I haven't been at all active in the hobby for many moons but will be diving back in soon only to find a changed world in many respects. Glad this board is so helpful in providing a heads up to these !
