Kelleher pretty much has a monopoly now on the large lots. We will see if Rasdale's demise helps DFK enlarge their auctions or if Rasdale was mainly getting Midwest consignments and that material will not make it to the East Coast. I know for me shipping costs played a role in where I consigned heavy lots. I would drive to DFK's offices. Not going to ship 36 red boxes or 50-pound cartons if it can be helped.

GOT- TO -FIGURE- THIS- OUT
We lost the close friendships in the philatelic community .
we lost the training of a new generation of experts
we are losing dealers and stamp auction houses
we are losing the buying of stamp supplies ---including good hinges and stamp albums at collector prices .
we are seeing great material come on the market because of age and close albums
we are losing new web site creators for stamps .
BUT WATCHING STAMP AUCTION PRICES THIS WEEK
Somebody is buying ,I seen strong bidding this past week .
This morning there is more money on earth than when you went to sleep last night .
More collectors are hiding behind computers screens ,so don't know who purchased what .

TRYING TO SENSE WHERE ARE WE GOING ?

I am surprised it took this long for the internet only sellers to replace the traditional dealers and auction houses. ebay sales of stamps have not abated, and those sellers don't have the overhead of the legacy folks.

You are going to see more competition at the DFK's of the World to feed the internet sales monster. That Rasdale material is going somewhere. It's not going to just vaporize.

People like Chris Rupp and Posner were smart and setup shop on ebay long ago instead of sticking their heads in the sand. Rupp sells multi-thousand-dollar stamps on the 'Bay and doesn't have a website or a store.
