of semi-postal engraved
stamps of famous paintings
of Monaco Princes and Princesses, was issued by Monaco on December 10, 1942. The set has 15
stamps and I will show them in three parts. Here is the first group
of them:
Rainier I
of Monaco (1267–1314) was the first sovereign Grimaldi ruler
of the area now known as Monaco, and the Lord
of Cagnes, a town where in 1309 he established a stronghold, today known as the Château Grimaldi, painting by Eugène Charpentier. Engraved by Raoul Serres:

Charles II (1555 – 1589) was the eldest son
of Honoré I (1522–1581) and Isabella Grimaldi (died 1583). He became Lord
of Monaco on the death
of his father in 1581 until his death in 1589, painting by Bernardin Mimault. Engraved by René Cottet:

Jeanne Grimaldi (1596 - 1620), daughter
of Lord Hercules I
of Monaco and Maria Landi and a sister
of HSH Prince Honore II

Charles Auguste de Goyon, Count
of Gacé (1647-1729), was the French soldier, diplomat and Marshal
of France from 1693 after which he was known as the Maréchal de Matignon. Engraved by Pierre Gandon:
