This is certainly a nice thread you started Barb and I
would like to contribute to it also.

Austria has probably produced more famous classical composers than
any other country and many have been portrayed on her stamps.

So lets start off with

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Issued in 1956 to commemorate his 200th Birthday

Souvenir Sheet issued in 1991 for Mozart's 200th death
Anniversary.

Joseph Haydn

Stamp below was issued in 1982 to honour 250th Anniversary of
Haydn's birth.

Johann Strauss

Issued in 1949 for his 50th death Anniversary.

Issued in 1975, commemorating 150 years of his birth.

In 1999 Austria again honoured him with a stamp for the
100th Anniversary of his birth.

In the same year a stamp was issued for the 150th Anniversary
of the death of Johann Strauss (Senior) who was also a well known
composer in his time but was surpassed by his son in fame and
adulation.

I find that stamp collecting adds to my interest in other things and vice versa.

After I posted the pics of Beethoven stamps I started thinking that
I hadn't heard any of his music for quite awhile.
So I plopped in a CD and enjoyed again listening to Beethoven's
Symphony No.6 Pastoral which is one of my favourites.

Hi timbres667

Yes I have whole bunch of Austrian stamps but none of the
valuable ones.
But luckily the beauty in stamps has for the most part
nothing to do with their value.

I've heard of Handel and Bach but not of the other two.

Nice colour combo.
