The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American heavy bomber which attained a distinguished record during World War II. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a B-24 bomber, combined engraved (frame) and photogravure (vignette) by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., and issued by Nicaragua on November 5, 1954 as one of a set of 14 stamps honoring the Nicaraguan Air Force, Scott No. 758, plus a photo of a U.S. Air Force Liberator in flight, and a YouTube link to a short documentary film about the use of these bombers in Europe during WW2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWOk2--CY6E- nethryk  |

The AMX International AMX, a joint project between Italy and Brazil, is a subsonic ground-attack aircraft for battlefield interdiction, close air support and reconnaissance missions now in service with the air forces of Brazil, Italy and Venezuela. Bhutan issued this souvenir sheet with the theme Churchill and battle of Britain. SC 88c The 2nu stamp shows a Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIB and the 4nu shows a Hawker Hurricane Mk IIC

100 years of naval Aviation. British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) issued this sheetlet of supermarine scimitar in 2009.
The Supermarine Scimitar was a British naval fighter aircraft operated by the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. The prototype for the eventual production version flew in January 1956 and production aircraft were delivered in 1957. It saw service with the Royal Navy from 1958 until 1969.

100 years of naval Aviation. British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) issued this sheetlet of sopwich pup in 2009.
The Sopwith Pup was a British single-seater biplane fighter aircraft built by the Sopwith Aviation Company. It entered service with the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service in the autumn of 1916. The Pup was eventually outclassed by newer German fighters, but it was not completely replaced on the Western Front until the end of 1917.    |

100 years of Naval Aviation. Sheetlet of Westland Wessex Helicopter stamps issued by BIOT in 2009.
The Westland Wessex is a British-built turbine-powered development of the Sikorsky S-58 "Choctaw". The Wessex was initially produced for the Royal Navy (RN) and later for the Royal Air Force (RAF. The Wessex operated as an anti-submarine warfare and utility helicopter; it is perhaps best recognised for its use as a search and rescue (SAR) helicopter.   |
