Phil, I totally agree with you. Since joining this site four months ago, I have learned more than in the previous four years. While I focus on the countries I mainly collect, I do enjoy reading about issues involving other countries as well. Everyone here is so willing to share their knowledge and make this such an enjoyable hobby.

I find it to be the only stamp forum that is genuinely helpful and very laid back and friendly and the most amazing fact finding forum on the whole internet.
Regards,

I think the big egos like the other forums because there is fuel to add to their fire. We don't seem to take kindly to veiled insults, beratings, rudeness, and just plain meanness.

We are a wonderful microcosm of philatelic friends.

Phil:

I agree and lately I've been thinking this is THE place for topical/thematic discussions.

And the precancel threads are very active too.

I find that read/view almost every thread -- even those outside my personal collecting interests -- and I always learn something.

HEY -- look at that my green "SUPPORTER" label has disappeared. I didn't realize it has been that long since I contributed. I'm on my way right now to re-up my donation....

I've got to agree, I have accounts on a couple of other forums, but this is by far my favorite. The people here are incredibly nice and knowledgeable and I don't think I've seen the kind of in-fighting I've seen elsewhere.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

could not agree more ..

you would be surprised how many electronic "conversations" I have to interrupt as a mod on a fish keeping forum it really is kind of silly .. good for a chuckle but thats about it.... really messes the place up and detracts from the learning and sharing that a forum is supposed to be about.. like this one :)

While I know you were being sarcastic, art, it happens all the time. Two recent knock-down, drag-outs I saw elsewhere, one involved which form of stamp magnification was "correct", scanners or plug-in magnifiers and the other, do you collect MNH or MLH stamps. In both, people got really nasty, calling each other names because they had different opinions.

Why can't people realize that there is no right or wrong way to collect stamps?
