I have hunted 1900-1940 and the BOB stuff, but have found only similar stamps, nothing that can be called either of these two. Any Scott numbers on these elusive little devils?

Hi Jeff,

These are both a bit obscure!

The 1 lev was prepared as part of the 1917 liberation of Macedonia set but wasn't issued.

Similarly, the 50 stotinki was prepared in 1915 but wasn't issued even when the rest of the set was eventually issued in 1921.

I see my 2009 Scott prices these in footnotes at $1.65 (1 lev) and $1.75 (50 st.).

Thank you Nigel, I will sleep much better knowing my blindness was not real. Putting them into the book under "not issued"

nigel: did you look at the postmark on the other Bulgaria thread. Is that a normal postmark?

Hi Phil,

I've not seen the postmark before but there's a similar example used on a Bulgarian post card as part of what seems to be a duplex Sofia postmark in closed ebay item #250757115351.
