On June 1, 1995 Japan issued this 80 yen value (Sc #Z161) depicting 'Ashizuri-misaki' (Eng.: Cape Ashizuri) for Kochi prefecture.

From wikipedia, "Cape Ashizuri is a headland at the southernmost tip of the Japanese island of Shikoku...Above the cape is Cape Ashizuri Lighthouse, which started operating in 1914, and two observatories."

I like the Lighthouse stamps which are showing some character of light. Signal depicted with triangles on Swedish 1989 stamps are brilliant and this one has additional ink to make the beam in gloss. Subtle, but nicely effective.

I agree - that one is the best shape and beams out! I am amazed how many different depiction of the same legendary lighthouse exist.

Here is another set, showing beams nicely and rain and thunderbolt in the distance view.

The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of Helios, the Greek personification of the Sun, erected in the city of Rhodes, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, It was constructed to celebrate Rhodes' victory over the ruler of Cyprus, Antigonus I Monophthalmus, whose son unsuccessfully besieged Rhodes in 305 BC. Before its destruction in the earthquake of 226 BC, the Colossus of Rhodes stood over 30 meters high, making it one of the tallest statues of the ancient world.

I didn't find any source says the statue was a lighthouse, but since it depicted in many designs as a lighthouse, I decided to post about it here.

Hi LaoPhil - again, amazingly different style and pose of the statue of Helios! Myths are fantastic to have no visual records... Here is another ancient lighthouses, which I am wondering if they had any written or drawn records of how they were..?

Hello, KuoLC - I am adding more African stamps after following your features.

Somalia
2002 / Ancient Lighthouses: Alexandria, Ostia and Trieste

I love these for the symmetric design and bright expression of beams of the light.
