This January 1, 2002 computer-vended stamp of Finland (Michel #38) depicts the un-domesticated version of the dog, the wolf (Canis lupus). There are only several hundred wolves, at most, in Finland today, and they continue to be culled and poached.

From the suurpedot.fi website, "The wolf (Canis lupus) is a mammal of the canine family. Biologically speaking, it is the same species as the domestic dog. The wolf is the largest canine living in the wild...Wolves communicate with each other via postures, gestures, facial expressions, scent marks and howling. Contrary to what stories tell us, wolves do not howl more than usual during the full moon. Wolves howl to signal the beginning of hunt, to guard their territory and to call the pack together."

This 1987, rouletted, 10 peso anti-tuberculosis charity seal of Mexico depicts a Weimaraner. The sheet from which this seal came, most likely showed many different breeds of dogs.

Modern (1960-2000) anti-tuberculosis seals of many countries are issued in se-tenant and continuous design sheets of a topical nature.

The 2c value of South West Africa's 1980-88 wildlife series depicts the African wild dog, which is not the same species as the domesticated dog, and wolf (Canis lupus).

From Wikipedia, "The African wild dog (Lycaon pictus), also called the painted wolf or Cape hunting dog, is a canine native to the sub-Saharan Africa. It is the largest indigenous canine in Africa, and the only extant member of the genus Lycaon, which is distinguished from Canis by dentition highly specialized for a hyper-carnivorous diet, and lack of dewclaws...The African wild dog is a highly social animal, living in packs with separate dominance hierarchies for males and females. Uniquely among social carnivores, the females rather than the males disperse from the natal pack once sexually mature."
