Hey! BeeSee, your scans are getting better than mine, (not allowed)
Great closeup, my old Epson Perfection V200 is not up to that. I'll nick your scan here, I don't recall ever seeing scribed border lines on the Junk issues. Interesting.

Rod, My old scanner is a Epson Perfection 1260, purchased in 2005 I think. Does 1200dpi., but don't worry my scans won't catch up to yours, and I will not forge your yellow text. |

Hi rod222 and BeeSee, Thanks for scanning the China junks. I've never noticed the train in the background on these stamps. It's funny how often I get surprised like this. I think I know a design well but clearly I've never looked at it properly. |

Thanks Nigel Canada...query, Now I know this Montreal duplex [along with "J"] refers to a "Postal Station" Does this refer to a station in a Rail sense or just a position? I cannot see Rail options using a whopping big duplex canceller. comments? |

Frantisek Hudecek : Czechoslovakia The annual "A Stamp on A Stamp" issue commemorates further major designers of postage stamps - František Hudeček and the engraver Bohdan Roule who together designed the 10h postage stamps featuring the 1846 steam engine Zbraslav, issued in the 1956 series of postage stamps Engines. F. Hudeček was the author of the entire issue of six stamps. The painter, graphic designer and illustrator F. Hudeček (1909-1990) studied with Prof. Kysela at the Institute of Applied Arts in Prague. His creation developed from fantasy images to a geometrical constructional order. His pursuit of new contacts between reality and virtuality found its expression also in stamp design in the form of subordination of the form to the given theme. Hudeček applied his art also to poster and textile design. B. Roule (1921-1960) graduated from the Institute of Applied Art in Prague. He started engraving postage stamps in the early 50s. During his short lifetime he created about 60 stamp engravings. The first-day cover features a free association of the picture on the 30h postage stamp with the 1865 steam engine Karlštejn. The stamp is issued both in the form of sheets and as a booklet of 8 stamps and 4 coupons featuring an 1841 steam engine. (The stamp on a stamp is the following stamp which appears again on a stamp Scott 3369 20th January 2008) Frantisek's art: http://www.arcadja.com/auctions/en/...rtist/60454/ |
