How about showing us cartoon characters on stamps? The stamp below put the theme into my head...

When I was a kid, my sister would walk me up to the Filene's store in town, and we would go downstairs to the kid's section. They had all these little Hello Kitty goodies. Now, decades later, my sister STILL likes Hello Kitty, and my toothbrush still lives in a little plastic "house" on the wall of the bathroom, complete with Hello Kitty on the door!

Mr. Gobau ("Strong Rock"), an old man with round eyes, big nose, mustache and with a single tuft of hair on top of his head, is a cartoon character created by South Korean artist Kim Seong-hwan (1932- ) in the longest-running comic strip in Korea. Here is an image of a stamp entitled "Mr. Gobau in transition," designed by Li Gi-seok, printed by lithography, and issued by (South) Korea on November 1, 2000, Scott No. 2037. Bonus: Dog.

Since 1959 the Asterix series is one of the most popular Franco-Belgian comics in the world, having been translated into over 100 languages. It was first written by Rene Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo, but is now being continued by others. Look up the band of heroes and their disagreements with the Romans if you aren't already familiar with them. Souvenir sheet issued by Germany for September 2015. Note the denomination 21€cent, done so that the entire sheet can be used for large-sized envelopes.
