Very difficult to tell when scanned separately. Please put side-by-side, scan together, and post again.

Taken without permission, directly from my RH White Color guides, I am showing the Scott 219/220 page which shows the Carmine Lake against other varieties. It is difficult to see, but the Lake (and Carmine Lake) varieties definitely have a bluish tint to them. Your copies do not appear to have enough blue.

The stamp is a deep carmine. Carmine lake has a purplish cast when compared side by side with carmine. I am not sure that I have seen a good example of the 599b carmine lake variety of the coil.

I have good carmine lake references for 634b including the discovery copy. Also, a couple more examples of 634f lake have turned up since I showed the cover to the editors of the Scott US Specialized catalog for listing a few years ago.
