TNJed, your Aland Islands souvenir sheet shows a sculpture called "People of the Sea" (1971) by sculptor Matti Haupt. It is in Mariehamn. The reflective piece is a foil hologram. Finland has used these on some of their stamps beginning in 1994. Information is from Facit's Special catalog (Scandinavia). Here is Germany's July 20, 1938 semi-postal issue (Mi #671) for the 5th race for the Brown Ribbon in Munich-Riem. The goddess of victory is shown holding the victor's wreath. |

"Nude" by Gheorghe Tattarescu, my favorite from a series of nude art stamps issued by Romania in 1969. |

Here is the only US regular issue that I know of that would fit in this topic, the 2-cent 1901 Pan-American issue, SC295. There are some Newspaper stamps that would fit too. How many of you were too interested in looking for vignette shifts on the train to see them? I mean two nude women! Dan |

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

Has there been any systematic comparison between male and female nudes on stamps? Nudes as topical fodder are generally female, but allegorical figures and natives seem evenly split. Athletes and artisans lean towards male figures. |

No nudes on the stamps themselves, but when I saw this FDC, I had to buy it. |

TNJed, Quote: Danstamps I did a double take when I saw your post, thinking it was surely uploaded to the wrong thread... Yes, the nudes are pretty obscure! That's probably why they made it onto a US stamp. No one noticed. Dan |
