Some years ago, I borrowed a section of the Forbin catalog from the American Philatelic Research Library (APRL). It was photocopies, actually. I was a little surprised at how ancient the catalog must be. So far, it was the only borrowing experience I've had with APRL which wasn't useful for me.

This is quite a detailed catalogue for the times that France was experiencing in 1915. Thanks for the link to the archive site. It is a treasure trove for research.

Actually it's quite useful as it have the sizes of the stamps, it's make it more easy to prepare pages for the stamps you don't have yet.

Actually it's the third edition, most of the work was already done ine the 1905 and 1909 edition. ( the third edition was reprint in 1980 and 1991 )

One interesting story is that Alfred Forbin sold his stamps dealer business to Théodore Champion in 1902 and later Champion get associate with Yvert Tellier and it's him who was fixing the prince in the Yvert Tellier until 1955

So no surprise the Forbin catalogue was printed by Yvert Tellier

Does anyone have access to the 1905 or 1909 editions of the Forbin catalogue please?

I have a soft copy of the 1915 third edition, but I am interested to see how Malta revenues were covered in the previous two editions as I am currently researching this topic.

The listings should be very short, taking up less than half a page each (in the 1915 edition, only 24 stamps are listed).

If someone who has any of these editions could forward me a copy of the Malta listings, I would be very grateful. :D

Many thanks for your replies. :)

@rogdcam - the PDF available on Stamp Smarter is actually the 1915 edition, but the website incorrectly gives the year 1914. I don't think that a 1914 edition exists - at least, I don't recall ever seeing any other reference to it.

@revcollector - on Eric Jackson's website I came across a 1980 reprint of the 1915 edition - I presume that is the same one you have? I don't think the 1905 and 1909 editions have been similarly reprinted (why would they be, given that they were superceded?)

@rod222 - thanks for posting the extract from the 1915 edition. My interest in the previous editions is mainly for comparison with this one + to see during which edition each stamp was added to the catalogue.

Yes, the reprint is of the 1915 edition. All are very scarce as originals, particularly the first one. That edition is very rare.
