I am trying to figure out the Omnibus sets and the best place to get albums for them I have found 4 sources so far:
Palo
Stanley Gibbons (Britannia)
White Ace
Sea Horse Publishers UK
But I have issues.
When I check Scott and Stanley Gibbons, for the sets up to the 1958 series, they are very close. After that, the # of stamps they list as issued varies drastically
Examples:
Freedom from Hunger Scott lists 37 and SG lists 77
Red Cross Scott lists 70 and SG lists 108 + 2 souvenir sheets
and so forth.
Does anyone know why there are such large discrepancies and which one to believe?
As far as albums, Palo has a set of albums with just the Scott omnibus sets listed as that is what they follow for these. They run in order by year.
SG (Britannia) has separate albums for each series but not all are available as Britannia is not doing any albums for various reasons and also not keeping all in stock any more.
White Ace does have some but are not keeping up and as stock runs out, they are not printing any more due to lack of demand and their restructuring. They may resume at a later date.
AS far as Sea Horse Publishers are concerned, I will never buy from them again as I don't think they are in operation even though their website is still up.
I purchased sets of pages and albums for £280 from them. I never got an email confirming purchase, never got shipping information, and no reply to 2 emails sent to them. I opened a case with Paypal for non receipt and after 10 days and no reply to the case, I got my money back. Still have not heard from the merchant.
Does anyone have any of the Britannia albums or Palo albums that I could get some information from. I have bought some White Ace used and should have those next week.
I am trying to figure out which albums to buy and which have the best coverage.
Thanks very much in advance for any help.

The Scott list for omnibus issues contains only stamps with "common design type" (design elements may be different, but based on same overall stamp design type).
I don't have the SG list available. My guess is the SG list likely includes stamps that have totally different designs. For example, for the Freedom from Hunger issue, the 2-stamp set from Ceylon is not in the Scott list. Maybe check to see if it is in the SG list. |

They are on the SG list.
One other thing I noticed is that just before the Omnibus listings in the Scott Catalog, there is another huge section for worldwide common design stamps and Freedom From Hunger is listed there as well with a different count than under the omnibus section.
They never do things simple do they?
It does appear that SG includes far more stamps the Scott in the omnibus series from 1963 forward. Britannia however has made no albums after 1978 for omnibus series.
I would like to find out from people that have a Palo or SG so see what is there actually.
Thanks for the help so far. |

Another interesting point is on the Stanley Gibbons site it says the Britannia albums are also based on the Scott catalog listings |

Quote: One other thing I noticed is that just before the Omnibus listings in the Scott Catalog, there is another huge section for worldwide common design stamps and Freedom From Hunger is listed there as well with a different count than under the omnibus section. Scott separates the listing according to collecting area. So there is a separate "Freedom from Hunger" list for the French collecting area. |

I have collections of the following Omnibus series:
1935 KGV Silver Jubilee, 1937 KGVI Coronation,1949 UPU Centenary, 1953 QE Coronation, 1958 10th anniversary of the Human Rights Declaration, 1962 Anti-Malaria Campaign, 1963 Freedom From Hunger, 1965 ITU Centenary, 1966 UNESCO 20th Anniversary
All are on White Ace pages. I create my own layouts for many of them. This allows my collections the flexibility to be as complete as I desire.
Drop me a message if you would like to have further information.
Cheers, Terry.

Dutchman, I just checked the ATA website and they do have a Red Cross issues list. Problem is that you have to be a member.

I too have collections on British Commonwealth and have created my own albums for the 1935 KGV Silver Jubilee as well as 1937 KGVI Coronation. Currently I'm preparing the 1948 KGVI Silver Wedding.
I have a hand selected choice in paper and use acid free non-bleached pages which are 180gsm in thickness and off-white in colour. If you want I can share some of the pages with you. |

Peter:
I looked at their site last night and they have a number of the omnibus listed but in a totally different format and heading. It takes a little while to find them but may have a great deal of info.
They also have checklists for the sets of topicals that you can purchase for 1¢per listing in the set and updates are free.
Membership is only $25 for the digital so I may give it a shot. |

Very nice, you did a great job.
How long did it take you to do these?
Are the pages in English?
Are they on A4 paper or 8 1/2 x 11 North American paper?
You may be able to sell these as a PDF file

Since you mention PDF files- does anyone know of anyone selling downloadable pages, either on a CD or via direct download for British Omnibus sets or for specific eras of British collecting- such as George VI?
I know Steiner has the George VI issues covered on his offerings but not sure if he separates those from what came before and after. |

Try this seller on ebay. He has a large list of what he has available in his description http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Print-a-Birt...AOSwKfVXHSQ2As far as the specialty pages on CD, I have not found any in my searches. Palo makes them but they are not cheap, but there are a lot of pages and at about $1.00 per page for standard and about $3.00 per page for hingeless, it is not a bad deal. They are a lot of work and I have not found anyone that does a CD of these area. |
