Rafa, I can not read what is printed on the stamp. Could you post a picture of just one stamp please?

http://www.stamp-collecting-world.c..._fr1920.html"On May 29, 1921, the current definitive postage stamps were locally overprinted "Salzburger Volksabstimmung" (in various formats) for the Salzburg Peoples' Plebiscite... "The Salzurg Plebiscite was actually not an authorized plebiscite and the German Austria government in Vienna ordered that it be canceled. This plebiscite was NOT about annexation to German Austria, but about annexation to the Republic of Germany! The Allied nations, the League of Nations, and the Treaty of Versailles strictly forbade the unification of any part of German Austria with the Republic of Germany. The people of Salzburg voted for unification with Germany, however the results were not recognized, and the union never happened." |

Rafa, If I try hard I read "Abstimmung in Salzburg" and than the date. Is that correct? I can not find this overprint anywhere, but I will keep trying. KGB's posts don't seem to help - those stamps are in the catalog but do not even resemble what you have.

Rafa, several mail pieces with the exact same stamps and overprint are listed for sale on Delcampe and the asking price is around twenty euros. I guess we need someone who knows this stuff to ring in - cards and envelopes with all three stamps seem to me philatelic makework! Also, the fact that your stamps do not appear in a regular catalog makes me think they are cinderelas!

"Of the twenty denominations overprinted, thirteen of them are shown above."
I should have left this sentence in the quote above. (I was too lazy to copy the photos!)
So somewhere we should be able to find the missing seven stamps.

The stamps are likely genuine--Austria Scott 239-241--but this overprint was not authorized by the central government. I bet Michel mentions them, but I see nothing in my old Scott Catalogue. |

Michel lists these stamps as local issues. Note that the overprint on these stamps is different from the one shown on the link in KGB's earlier post. It also contains the date of issue. The three stamps constitute a set that is valued € 12 in the 2013 catalog. Michel only lists mint and CTO issues - I guess what you have is CTO. |

Thank you, SWH, that is the info we were looking for. I knew all along that those three were different and not listed with the others - the fact that they are all three on one envelope is enough to get suspicious about their status.

They are listed in the Austria Netto Katalog Österreich Spezialkatalog 2014/15. It shows that for all 3 on one cover it is 20 Euro for favour cancels which yours appears to be. |
