Do I read tension in the last picture?

Any moment, the dog will go for the cat,
the horse will rear,
and the contents of the cart emptied upon the road....

The dog's head looks like it is poised that certain way that dog's heads are, when they are bemused and curious.

Vincent Van Gogh
Here is a set of 25 stamps of painting of this famous painter. These are from the Democratic Republic of Congo and not listed in Scott. I usually don't buy when not listed but I found this set very beautiful. I did allot of research to find the french title and the year of each painting to put as description on the page.

Beautiful set timbres. Indeed, despite it being a set for philatelic selling, it is a terrific showing of Van Gogh paintings all in one set of stamps. Something very difficult to accomplish.
His home country, Netherlands, never issued a set celebrating his paintings.

Andrew
Looking for titles of paintings I found out that Vincent produced more than 2,000 artworks, consisting of around 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings and sketches. That means he must have been working almost continuously knowing he died at the age of 37.

Thanks, I realize Holland has no shortage of great artists..but I was wondering if they ignored Vincent...so I got out my Netherlands albums...in 1990 they issued two stamps in his honor...scott 754 "self portrait" and #755 "the green vineyard".

Andrew, the Netherlands actually issued 2 stamps in 1990 for
Van Gogh's 100th death anniversary and 13 stamps for his
150th Birthday all showing various paintings.

He is one of my favourite painters as is also Pieter Brueghel the elder.

I chose my words wrongly, sorry.
I meant his paintings at the extent the set shown did. They've issued very few stamps with the paintings of famous artists, and they have many.

Going from the present:
- 2006 - Rembrandt (5)
- 2003 - van Gogh (10)
- 2000 - Nightwatch
- 1990 - Van gogh (2)
- 1956 - Rembrandt (5)
- pre-1956 - some sets with portraits of both in engravings

Starting in the late 90s, early 2000s, TNT started issuing a lot of big sheets, so they eventually found room for those 2 great artists, but before then it waqs slim pickings.
