The Everglades is one of the largest national wetland parks in the world. Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998!) spent many decades researching and writing about the beauty and value of the Everglades, contributing to its preservation. The National Wildlife Federation described her as "a passionate, articulate, and tireless voice for the environment". Her first book appeared in 1947, as did the first stamp for the park. Stamp issued by the UN in 2003 and another issued by France in 2017. (see also the first posting)
