2d Revenue Stamp Overprint Error

Hello members,

I have found a 2d revenue stamp that it has initials overprint M.E.B. I have research and only found M.E.F. can it be an error?, please advice. Thank you.

Sorry, but this a revenue/fiscal usage (in Great Britain). The overprints were used by commercial firms or smaller government agencies as a control, basically to prevent theft. M.E.B. are initials for the company or agency name. Perhaps someone here knows what that stands for.

Another key is the violet cancel used in revenue/fiscal situations. Pen cancelled stamps would also be ones used for revenue purposes.

MEB not listed in commercial overprints
EMEB was East Midlands Electricity Board

Maybe Midlands Electricity Board, or Manchester ditto.........?

I was able to find this stamp with an MEB perfin cancel on hipstamp




Suggests this is a commercial use stamp
