Etsy Collecting Foreign Taxes On Orders

Hello,

Our Etsy Store: LoveCollecting locsted in San Francisco, California sells stamps and other paper collectibles such as Rock and Blues Posters, Currency and Postcards. Recently, we had sn order from Australia and were surprised that Etsy a Brooklyn company, collected Sales Tax from a foreign customer.

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

eBay does the same thing. Australian govt. required it.
