Your top right stamp is almost identical Bobby.
I gotta tell you, I was just about to call it a non postmark, the "V" shape looked absurd, but now we can see the bars do converge when the hammer is worn.

Looking for help with this one please. The closest I could find is NASHUA but the spelling is reading NASHAU. I have a list that spells it with AU but an online search only shows UA. Tasnaki |

Hi Tasnaki,
The only place I could find that might be a match is Marshall in Victoria. |

It is NASHAU New South Wales From my 20,000 database. (The only result with text string SHAU) I am assuming there exists a mis-spelt cancelling hammer for, as you said, NASHUA Perhaps a reconnoitre through Prestige auctions may confirm? "Page not found" |

Rod222 Fantastic work, I wondered if that was a possibility and you have now confirmed it. The March 1908 date is clearly an early strike.
Mossgreen had one for auction in 2016 with $75 reserve.

Hi Tasnaki, yes I was ruminating on that, Error in use 8 years 6 years, smaller town, what would be the survival rate of good Pmks?
Your price suggests the answer.

Great find Rod Hopson & Tobin have a date range of 1908 to 1914 so yes, it's a very early use! |

What has me perplexed, is the 1910 impression shows an ARC based design, (Also periods between Year Month Day in the date slug) yours does not. (albeit there is a tiny spot of ink at end)
Ergo, they misspelt the hammer twice? or was there 2 hammers sent / in existance?

This one is interesting. Appears to be a type 2(i) Gravesend postmark from 1909.28 km from Warialda, Hopson and Tobin show Gravesend as a Receiving Office 1/2/1900 then Post Office at the Railway Station on 16/4/1900. Telegraph (April 1900), Money Order Office (1/11/1905) and Government Savings Bank (20/11/1905) facilities came soon after. Gravesend was allocated barred numeral 1986. Canceller type 1D(i) is recorded from 1901-07. On 3/6/1909, Gravesend became a Semi-Official office and was removed from the railway station. In 1913 a Telephone Service was established and a manual Telephone Exchange in 1914. Canceller type 2(i) is recorded from 1913-62 so the one below (if it is Gravesend!) brings the earliest recorded date 4 years earlier. Gravesend became a Non-Official Post Office on 15/11/1939 and an Automatic Exchange was introduced in 1987. Canceller type type 3(i) is recorded from 1937-95. |

Has to be GRAVESEND Only 3 Postmarks in the whole of Australia end in SEND Townsend Wallsend You are dashed lucky to have the top strike indicate a faint 1909 Nice catch. Just make sure the Type 2i Date plug ends at the "D" Do you have any regime to advise authors of a new EKU? Curious |

I am having trouble here (NSW postmark novice) If as you say the 2(i) Pmk is from 1913 Why does your Pmk show the year in full? (1909) should it not be a 2 character slug? and "NSW AUST"Ooops Just noted two hammers in use in 1938 so this must be a 3i Shucks This must be the 2i 114241098818The hammer is definitely dying... |
