Also, a combination of chalcography and offset is often used in stamp production

Absolutely. They do a lot of that. The 2 Euro coins series is an example of that type of printing.

Spain 10 July 2009
10th anniversary of the common European currency (Euro)
Chalcography and offset lithography
Phosphorescent matt chalk-surfaced and gummed paper
Perforated 13 3/4
size: 28.8 x 40.9 mm (stamp), 115.2 x 105 mm (miniature sheet)
number printed: 340,000 miniature sheets in printer's sheets of 50
face value: € 1
engraved at RCM - FNMT

The sheet commemorates the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the common European currency, on 1 January 1999. The stamp shows the common European site of a Spanish 2 Euro commemorative coin with a common European theme circulated in member countries in 2009. The miniature sheet depicts the printed area of the obverse of a 20 Euro banknote of the design brought into circulation in 2002. The numeral '20' has been replaced by the Euro symbol. Coins and banknotes were not circulated until 1 January 2002, three years after the introduction of the common European currency.

mainly 18th century New Cathedral

16th.-century

The construction of the Gothic-Renaissance New Cathedral of Plasencia started in 1498 and finished in 1578. The Renaissance façade depicted on the minisheet was the work of Huan de Álava and finished by Gil the Hontañón. It was constructed between 1548 and 1558. There is very little eighteenth century about the cathedral.

Most altars date from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

The interior has an early seventeenth-century reredos. The wrought-iron rood screen in plateresque style from 1604 was gilded in the early eighteenth century. That is about the only major element dating to the eighteenth century.

The stamp itself depicts the Romanesque Torre del Melón of the Old Cathedral's chapter house, named for the melon-like ornament that crowns it. As the sheet shows a façade of the new cathedral and the stamp a tower of the old one, the issue refers to the "Cathedrals of Plasencia."
