San Marino 1962 Alpanism Matterhorn (Cervino) is a mountain of the Alps, straddling the border between Switzerland and Italy. Its near-symmetric pyramidal shape is due to erosion by multiple glaciers diverging from the peak. It is composed of gneiss and was part of a small continent crust that broke up from Africa and moved on top of the Eurasian plate during the Alpine orogeny.  |

France 2003 Regions Mont Blanc stands between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Savoie and Haute-Savoie, France. It is the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. The Mont Blanc massif consists predominantly of ancient granite rocks and has been subjected to uplift, erosion, and glaciation.  |

France 2004 Regions Gorges du Tarn runs from Le Rozier to Quézac, in the Lozère department of the Massif Central. The canyons were created by Tarn River cutting into a thick Mesozoic limestone plateau over millions of years.  France 2005 Regions Étretat is best known for its chalk cliffs, including three natural arches and a pointed column which rises 70 meters above the sea. The entire rock formation consists of a complex stratigraphy of Upper Cretaceous chalks.  |

France 2006 Regions Calanche di Piana is located between Ajaccio and Calvi, in the Gulf of Porto in Corsica. It features landscape of red granite rock formations eroded into spiky outcrops flanked by steep jagged cliffs dropping into the water.  |

France 2008 Regions Coast of Rose Granite is located in the Côtes d'Armor department of northern Brittany. Waves, wind, ice, and tides created the spectacular coastline of pink to red granite formations. Cirque de Mafate is a caldera on Réunion Island located in the Indian Ocean. It was formed from the collapse of a large shield volcano and is surrounded by ragged peaks and ridges.   |

Andorra (French Administration) 2009 Landscapes Le cirque des Pessons is a natural cirque of glacial origin in the Pyrenees. The cirque and the surrounding mountains are all part of the granitic batholith of Mont-Louis-Andorra.  |

Spain 2008 Nature Hoces del Rio Duratón Natural Park is located near Sepúlveda, Segovia, Castile and León. The meandering River Duratón excavated deep gorges from the Upper Jurassic limestone formations of the Sepúlveda Massif.  Spain 2009 Nature Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park is located in the provinces of Soria and Burgos. It is a limestone landscape. The canyon is known for its spectacular relief, formed by a deep ravine surrounded by sheer limestone walls rising up to rocky peaks.  |

Spain 2019 La Montana de Covadonga National Park Centenary The park is located in the Cantabrian Mountains, a 300 km long mountain range across northern Spain. Its topography reflects the effects of glacial erosion on the limestone massifs. Naranjo de Bulnes (shown in the stamp) is a limestone peak dating from the Paleozoic Era.  |

Gibraltar 2018 Views of the Rock Rock of Gibraltar is a monolithic promontory located near the southwestern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. The Main Ridge has a sharp crest with peaks over 400 m above sea level, formed by Early Jurassic limestones and dolomites. It is a deeply eroded and highly faulted limb of an overturned fold.  |
