I do not have access to a postal card catalog and was wondering what the recorded EKU date for the UX46 card is and if known, from what city was it mailed?

Here is an illustration of the UX46 , a FDC (Aug. 1, 1958) with the missing "I" in "IN" variety (s63) to boot:

Per the 2015 UPSS postal card catalog the FD/EKU is August 1, 1958, Philadelphia, PA.

Thanks, rodgcam, but my interest is just with the basic UX46, not the pre-cancelled nor reply card versions. To be open about my interest, it is associated tangentially to my 5 cent postage due penalty fee (so called Plus-a-nickle) on domestic postage due during just the 31 days of July 1958.

Thank you, jobi01, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I was a UPSS member for years (decades) but I let that membership and many others lapse as I was buried in journals. If I own the then current catalog it is in some unidentified box out there (me pointing towards the direction of my garage then towards a storage unit).

I will post more later.

I was wondering about the EDU listed by the UPSS as this recently dropped in my lap. Sold 16 days before the official FD and canceled 15 days before the official FD.

The message reads:

Quote:
On July 15, 1958 the H.P.P.O had the 3c(ent) postal card and the 4c(ent)embossed envelope on sale the other new postal stationary. I presume soon to come.

JHZ

Thus the sender of this card purchased it July 15, mailed it and received a July 16 "12M" postmark.

Did I use the wrong pronoun, John Becker? I am born the way I am, but I don't mind being fluid with language, heck we can even change species and use other collective nouns such as murder, parliament, wake, covey and gaggle for feather friends as well as herd, pack, nursery, mischief and raft for furry things. Us will toss in paddle for the furry guys to keep the Aussies uniquely happy.

Actually John I was wanting to be clear about it being my focus such that it was not perceived as degrading the reply cards and precanceled version of the 3 cent Liberty card and those who collect them. In my mind they all hold equal standing.

I was merely amused that you took ownership of the fee for all of us.

Oh, THAT, "my" John Becker.

My, my, my what can I say?

Yes, I see the issue now, that "my" should have read, "my collection of" but now it is too late to edit that post. But, with the few dozen known Plus-a-nickle items out in collector's hands, I can easily afford to pay all the nickles required if my poor proofreading results in such a fine.

I that light I show the item below (Not worth a separate thread). Yes, not a Liberty card, but an item that transitions over the rate change included in this thread. Mailed on the last day, July 31, 1958 of the postal card rate with the attached, but unused, reply card up-rated a cent to pay the August 1, 1958 new 3 cent postal card rate.

Scott UY13, Paid reply postal card.

There should be public census of the +5 due covers more accessible than a printed journal. I have two examples, which I have thought about adding to Frajola's site.

Yes, I have seen her site. I did not find it to be an intuitive place to go, nor does it give a sense of when any updates were last made. Is it current, or has it been static for the past 5 years? I can't tell.

Her domain name was established on 2001-12-15 and is coming up for renewal in 4 weeks (2021-12-15) so we will know in the next few weeks if the site is being kept active.

I believe something has been added in the last five years. I have had email correspondence with her in the last 12 months.

Below is a link you John participated in. I will start the separate threads soon since you brought up he plus a nickel cover issue again. HOWEVER, I am having internet issues and until it is resolved, I don't want to start any new threads at the moment.[It is bad enough as it is to be doing some mandatory email work while sitting in the parking lot of the public library using their wi-fi. Or as yesterday, arriving early at a stamp club location to use the wi-fi that was at that location.

I picked "5 years" out of the blue as a generality. My point being that the site does not have any obvious appearance of regular updating. IMHO, a census of specialized uses should be on a site with high traffic volume - Stampsmarter - Frajola - Classics Society - U.S. Stamp Society, etc. Someplace where people would be expecting to find things of this sort.
