This thread is to encourage members to share images and/or request or provide information on postmarks from Western Australia. To start it off, this is a small collection of P.P. (Parcel Post) Perth type L-b as classified by the Western Australian Study Group. The study group has observed that this canceller was used from August 1911 until September 1931. The stamps below are dated 23/9/1911, 7/10/1911, 1913 and 14/5/1914.

Here are two stamps with WA postmerks which I have posted before but are germane to this topic. The Postmark comes from BOULDER. The first, on a WA Swan issue, has damage which reduces the town name to BOUI DER. The second is on a later KGV sideface 1d, Die II, with further damage so that it reads BOUI DEP. On the second stamp's postmark, the final A of AUSTRALIA is missing. It would be interesting to know if this was early or late damage. I am sure that damage to the surrounding circle show that they are both the same hand stamp. |

Hi Frank, A pair of crackers ! Source: WA Study Group. Interesting that the typeface / Inking, you would swear they were two different hammers, but the breaks tell you otherwise. And the "R" lost a leg in the ensuing 5 years. and the "A" from Australia. |

Rod: After 5 years, I expect the striker has become a bit blunt, leading to a much wider impression of the various elements. Frank. |

Hi Jill. That doesn't make sense, the Argus has her arriving FREMANTLE 17th May Thanks for the links. I was after some indication of the Vessel herself, I cannot locate any RMS Brtiannia, except the wood paddle of 1840, and Her Majesty's Yacht. |

FDS. Probably carrying a Christmas card. I sometime shop at Bunbury (180 Km) but the drive is not as pleasant as to Perth or Albany. Bunbury Post Office STATE LIBRARY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA Copyrighted Image, but used under "fair use" https://slwa.wa.gov.au/copyright |
