To my limited knowledge of laid/wove paper, Google says that wove paper is smooth or uniform while laid has a ribbed texture.
To be honest I haven't really tried to distinguish the differences related to Mexican Revenues.
May I suggest that we look at the revenues we have and post pictures if we find laid paper.

Laid paper will stand out on the back of the stamp. Here are 1876 CF-8 and CF-9 images CF-8 image of the back, laid paper (notice the ribbing) CF-9 image of the back wove paper |

Nora - The effect is a little like taking something out of one of those photo albums that press the picture against the backing board with plastic. |

Thank you Sr. Geoff. I finally saw it in one of my Jose Maria Morelos revenues. I am having a hard time because many of my revenues are not in the best shape - so I am having hard time seeing the lines. For example this is the Back of DO 059 - one of the Vicente Guerrero revenues - I do not see those lines. According to my catalogue, this stamp is Laid. |

More importantly, Nora, what's for dinner once you've got those stamps out of the way? |

Nice one! Vertically Laid paper. Great to see stamp tongs, and no fingers with grubby fingernails as we sometimes endure. |

Ha Ha - well not to brag ;), but I am a pretty good cook! and with a new Kitchen :). Maybe some Sopa Azteca or Spaghetti Carbonara - decisions, decisions. Maybe I should ask Mr. Hidalgo down here who has many beady eyes on me at the moment. |

Head of Liberty 1903 - intact with talon and butchered no talon versions. :) QUESTION: The National Arms 1904-1905. I see an overprint "Impuestos Minero" - this is on the 2 centavos. When I look at the catalogue page, I am not sure if it is missing? or is there an error. I do not see with talon and the impuesto minero overprint. Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Nora. |
