On my Mac (macOS26) using Firefox version 147.0.3 released earlier this month. The catalogues use the DirectReader format, They load OK but the normal grey background does not appear. This means that the page, zoom in/out and go-to-SG-number controls are not visible. If you can correctly guess where these controls are, they work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't have the same problem with the Safari browser.

Have you tried full screen or reader view (if that release still has one or both...I'm slow to update FF)?

I have not used reader view before but I tried your two suggestions. The SG catalogues don't have any ads other than those which are printed in the catalogues, so it really shouldn't need reader view. Unfortunately neither suggestion worked. I did read, on Reddit I think, that macOS 26 has removed direct support of reader view but it can still be enabled by holding the shortcut Opt+Com+R but that didn't do anything.

The likely culprits seem to be Apple macOS and Firefox which have both been upgraded this month. Since reader view works on Safari, my bet is on Firefox. So my next move is to contact them. And it is possible that directreader.it have made some changes to their HTML code which makes it incompatible with Firefox. It does seem that Firefox is losing users lately for one reason or another and I have been tending in that direction too. Perhaps the time has come to get off the pot.

I did have a brief flirtation with a new browser called DuckDuckGo because it makes an real effort to avoid ads, trackers and data aggregators. Unfortunately, it was as bad as its name. It wouldn't do things we expect of browsers now (Can't remember what at present) but its does handle SG catalogue OK.

Any way, thanks for your help. Let's see if Mozilla/Firefox can help.
