What is also fun about the uvtools lamp is that they send you ten different nice size mineral samples that glow under uv light. These samples are not the canardlies (meaning you can hardly see them) you might get with some of the small lamps. I always get lots of ohs and ahs from younger folks when I show them and then compare to stamp tagging.

Hey MStocky, figured I'd just ask here quick rather than make another new thread. You seem very knowledgeable about tagging. Any idea what would cause the stamp on the left? It almost glows blue/purple.

Edit; it doesn't come across the picture very well once it's uploaded here, but the top right corner paper color matches the 2nd stamp. Where the paper color looks slightly different, it glows almost a blue/purple.

Clearly the tag is disturbed. Some sort of spill on the stamp at some point? Just curious is all. Thanks for any input.

Likely a worn tagging mat that produced an irregular block.

Worn tagging mat is spot on. Check out the caboose stamp Scott 1905 in the stampsmarter.org tagging database for another example of a worn tagging mat.

These are not prephosphored papers so in case of soaked stamps, anything goes with the taggant during soaking.
Did they use mats or plates for tagging?
The missing taggant on the left is rather crass so my bet would be soaking/drying effects (including stamps rubbing against each other) is the culprit.
