I did a search here of "postal scrip" and got zero returns. What the heck are these?

PS, I'd normally be far more reticent to make multiple posts in a day but 50 is a high bar…

Plenty returns, including

Quote:
Federal Postal Note & Scrip Stamps were used on money orders. There were three issues of these. The first issue including van Dam FPS15, 16, 18, 19, 21 and 22 were inscribed "Postal Scrip". All other stamps in this issue and the remaining issues were inscribed "Postal Note". The designs were the same in all issues. The only way to tell them apart is by measuring the stamp's design from the outside of the framelines.

According to the 1987 The Canadian Revenue Stamp Catalogue 1987 by E.S. J. Van Dam They are Postal Note and Scrip Stamps. There are three issues of these. 2nd !967 issue is 21X17 mm and third issue is 20x 16 mm. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the fast replies and apologies for messing up the search function…I'll figure it out. How were they used on money orders and why not regular stamps?

I asked AI for a more complete explanation so please correct this if wrong... One went into a postal outlet and obtained (purchased?) a blank money order then bought and attached sufficient scrip to pay for some small expense. The money order with scrip affixed was then mailed to the recipient who took it to their local postal outlet for reimbursement.

OK, I recognize the type. Let's just agree you are the cleverest person in the room and you move on to someone else's topic as you're not adding value here and I can't find an "ignore" function.
