Last Friday I purchased from the USPS, the Figures of the American Revolution stamps. I was wondering if the stamps become popular in the near future.

What does everyone think about the Figures of the Revolution? Possibly a future collectible or too mass produced?

If by collectible you mean valuable the answer is no. They will become "face" stamps selling for maybe 50% of face value on the secondary market. There will never be a shortage to satisfy stamp collectors since all of these Forever stamps are printed in the many millions. The days of truly limited production for regular issue stamps were over with a very long time ago. No-die-cut sheets are popular but I think that the USPS doesn't do them as much or at all anymore. Your best hope would be to find an EFO but that is tough in the modern age of production. Watch for Chinese counterfeits since every stamp is being faked now almost immediately.

I never thought stamp collectors would have to worry about Chinese counterfeits?

You didn't ask about the USPS stamp issues of 1976 (remember that year? haha).
At post offices one could buy 50-stamp panes of the "State Flags" issue - a different stamp (design) at every spot, 50 different in all! As 13c commemoratives, a pane then cost $6.50. (Run your inflation calculator and see how much that would be 50 years later...) But you can find these sheets on sale 50 years later at $6.50 (+ postage), if not $13 ("double face"), and of course for more by uninformed sellers.
There were other Bicentennial issues that year, also. Inc. a special 4-count Souvenir Sheets set. That (face value under $5) "rare" item can also be bought 50 years later for "face value" up to twice that, plenty on sale online.

After hearing about how these stamps aren't valuable, I decided to use them for mailing letters, instead of saving them.

They are valuable and will increase in value unlike those mentioned from the 1976 Bicentennial. They are forever stamps and will increase in value each time the first class postage rate increases.

That said, by using them on you mail now, you will receive full value for them.
