I wanted to show you some stamps from the first Czechoslovakian issues of 1919, designed by Alfons Mucha. I was recently able to classify them using Scott's specialized catalog, which, in addition to the standard catalog, includes the different color shades. The surprise came with the stamp on the right, which appears to be a scare Carmine SC#44F, as you can see when comparing it to the one on the left, which I think is brick red…

I think you can only appreciate the difference by comparing; it's the common color problem with monitors.

I am surprised you think the one on the left is one colour but imply you know the one on the right is a specified colour.
What makes you state it appears to be the carmine printing? |

Anyway, it's also possible to solve the equation by elimination; 5 shades are possible: brick red, brown red, red, carmine, and vermillion (only exists in mint).

My conclusion is basically based on elimination, comparing it with the reds from the previous issue and the 20h value which also falls within the red range... I rule out Brown Red due to the absence of a brown tone |

I am sorry. but that is utter nonsense. This is a common error: I see five listed shades, I see five different colours. So, I have the five different shades. This is not how it works. |

I can't tell you anything about the color but these two stamps look different enough to me that they should have different catalog numbers. Or maybe it is just inking differences.
The white text on the left stamp is much thicker than the right stamp. The hearts on either side of the "15" are filled in on the left stamp and appear much lighter, almost white, on the right stamp. The printing of the left stamp appears coarser. And there are other differences.
I would recommend using a POFIS speciality catalog for Czechoslovakia. |

Thank you for your input; it will greatly help me in my final decision. For now, I'll mark it as "very likely" (although I'm quite sure) while I wait for new examples or to get a POFIS (I've found some pages in websites, but it won't be easy to get one...). That said, these issues aren't really as simple as they initially seemed when I saw the Scott Standard. I see that there are studies that have delved deeply into the plates and small details. |

Dear rogdcam, there's plenty of free space in my albums for all your discards stamps, please send them to me... |

I didn't say "discard" anything. Just because a value is low(er) doesn't mean you throw the item in the trash. I said I doubt it is the higher value shade. When it comes to value, we see what we want (hope) to see. It is called confirmation bias. |

A new color comes into play, now in my opinion here they are from left to right: Brick red, Carmine, Brown red.. IA said red, carmín, brick red… |
