At 64,000 pages of material, one would need more than 8 days to really review the material. The exhibits including Court of Honor are beyond belief from what I have seen.
I deeply regret not being able to have attended the show, but have loved all the footage available online (thanks guys) - the next best thing to being there, for sure. It appears to have been a huge success.
Has anyone photographed / videoed the Literature Reading Room? It seems to be the only part of the show that I have not seen depicted somewhere online.
I was delighted to have been awarded a Large Gold for The Handbook of Stamp Production (digital eBook edition) and am curious to see how everything was displayed / made available for viewing. Incidentally, Free PDF copies are available to anyone who cares to make contact via "email poster".
Everything was face out on thin shelves for easy access with chairs available. The convention center is enormous, so having plenty of room for the literature was not a problem.
Above, I posted a "Part 3" and now I found and can add parts 1 and 2 and I also agree with the highlighting of topicals--it is the future I have been saying since last century:
Spent about 2 days there and really enjoyed it. Well planned with a lot of participation. What can we do to sustain the hobby ? That was the question that I had for the dealers , collectors ,and auction personnel . Of course bring in more young people in their 30's, 40's and 50's with emphasis on social media. May or may not be achievable but it's definitely worth the effort.
There have been a lot of young people at the show, especially Saturday through Monday; hopefully there will be more tomorrow, the last day. For all the angst beforehand, it has been a success. All the dealers I have spoken with are happy with the results.
Quote: The Court of Honor has to be seen to be believed.
Absolutely. And the breadth and depth of material on display elsewhere at the expo, too - simply amazing. So much great stuff, so little time to see it all.
I'm here with my wife and kids (age 8 and 6). We came on Tuesday and are leaving Sunday. They have had a lot of fun in the kids section. I was talking to a volunteer who said there were 175 kids here on Saturday, and they were expecting a lot of kids today (Saturday) due to rain in the forecast.
Echoing what others have said, there are a lot of younger people here. Fantastic exhibits as well.
