Hi Stamp Buddies,

Remember awhile back I said that I had a friend that was giving me her deceased fiance's stamp collection? Well, since a I got them I have been slowly going through what was there. I got 4 albums that were hand made with stamp pages added to a binder and the pages titled with the country and year. A lot of the stamps are canceled, but are all in good condition. Now there was a box, a big box of stamps that I have finally been able to go through. The stamps were probably ready to be placed in the albums or this gentleman was in the middle of finding missing stamps to incomplete sets. He was generally organized for which I was very happy to see.

One of the sets that I have pulled out of the box is a a set of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953. There are 61 mint stamps (with hinges that are still on the back) with only two duplicates, but something tells me that there are more to this set. All of the stamps on the bottom, have the names of the countries or islands that are under the GB's domain. 61 is a lot of countries, but somewhere I remember that there are close to 100 countries or islands that are under GB's domain.

I don't have a catalog for the stamps yet, but if someone does could you let me know how many stamps were to this set? I could list what I have if it's really needed.

Fortunately, most of the stamps in that omnibus issue are relatively inexpensive (<$1). There are only a couple of them that have a modest premium. If I recall correctly, the most expensive one is the Hong Kong issue; but even that one will catalog for under $10.

Well, I went through that list and I am only missing 3 from the top part and I don't have any from the bottom. I do have the Hong Kong one and I know that G.B. no longer owns Hong Kong. It's ging to be interesting to see if I can eventually collect the rest.

Correction: I found the missing stamps. They were stuck together. The top set has 62 and I have all of them.
