Very nice BC. I love collecting overprints with the unoverprinted stamp next to it. Often they are hard to find. You might say this was a "good catch" (fish pun intended).

I looked up Gibbons (1970 catalogue) and found the Colombian stamps overprinted with Panama. To my surprise there is over a page of information on the different types of overprints, different printings, etc. Sorry, the scanner has gone so I can't post a pic at present. These are very interesting sets with a lot of varieties and numerous misprintings.

Air mail service was established in Panama in February 1929.

Here is a nice cover from August of that year with an early overprinted air mail stamp. The cover is a bit tatty at the edges, but I couldn't resist.
