Does anyone have a favourite overprint that they would like to share? This is one of my favourite overprints. It looks like the Philippines stamp authority brought out the left overs from the 1972 Olympic Games issue and ran an overprint over them for the 1976 games 4 years later.

I could go on and on ... and on and on, but here are a couple: Charkhari SG 56, the 1 ANNA surcharge on 1 Rupee of 1939 because it's one of my most valuable items, and this one, with Cochin SG 77 and 97. because it makes a rather pleasing composition. I also like the rather bold Persian SARKARI (government service) overprint on these Hyderabad 2 Annas of 1909, SG O24: |

Like Tony, I could go on and on and on....... I figured that if we all showed our favourite, the thread would soon die. So I have some more....... A Kerek Kayemet L'israel [JNF] label showing the National Stadium for the Maccabiah Games, but overprinted for sale as a memorium issue for the Israeli athletes that were massacred at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. A set of 4 with both Red and Black overprints. The other three have charity values and are in Green,Brown and blue but with the same design. I have shown the unvalued label. An enterprising dealer overprinted non-logo Boots label panes to make money for the victims of the Tsunami. The sheet shown is for Thailand. Similar sheets with different colour overprints are for Indonesia,India and Sri Lanka. Just one shown for an example. Londonbus1 |

Well, I like the 1935 surcharges from Bhopal. That year, postage rates increased, and the State PO found itself short of ¼ Anna (equivalent to 3 Pies) and 1 Anna stamps, so it started surcharging. A small problem arose, though. The printers didn't have enough '¼'s to surcharge more than the top two rows of each sheet, so they fell back on '¼A' on the top two rows, and 'THREE PIES' for the remaining eight rows: (SG O318b) but the printers being only human, accidents did happen (SG O318ba) |

A couple more little slip-ups from the Bhopal surcharges (only God is perfect, after all) ... 'THEEE' for "THREE', position 4 - SG O319 and O319a 'THRFE' for 'THREE', position 2 - SG O319 and O319b, and Inverted ONE ANNA surchage, SG O326a |
