Thanks for posting that Newfoundland Codfish, Cynical, I have been after an image of that for a while.
The original fish, was drawn straight, but wouldn't fit the stamp vignette, so the tail was re-drawn curved.

Rod: you're welcome. Stepping out on a limb here but if I remember correctly that 2c codfish may have been the first fish stamp.
For those stampers and/or fish lovers I highly recommend a book entitled Cod - a Biography of the Fish that Changed the World. An absolutely fascinating read. |
