I'll put this one down then in my catalogue
of "firsts" ..... First Fish on a stamp.

Here is Charles Jeen's die for Newfoundland.
The tail of the fish was curved by the American
Banknote Company, in order to get into the
stamp space available.

In going through this entire thread, I'm surprised no one has posted these stamps from the British Virgin Islands ... virtually a whole aquarium in one issue!
