Nice picture Tinus. Not too many countries where you can ride up and down the runway of an international airport!

I was lazy and got the motorized version. "Palagi" is Tuvaluan for a white person. The road was name because in the colonial days several administrators lived in that area.

That looks something like Cairns in Northern Queensland. I liked it there. Of course I just missed the rainy (cyclone) season so I didn't see it at it's worst.

Great stuff BeeSee. Luckily I didn't have that stormy weather when I was there. Have you only been to Funafuti, or did you get to the other islands as well?

Timbres, it is not a beer belly, it is a photographic lens distortion!

Tinus, I just saw that. I have only been to Funafuti, but have been to many of the motu (or islets).

What about you?

I collect worldwide stamps with focus on pacific islands (Tokelau, Tuvalu, Cook Islands). Have been to Raro & Aitutaki in the cook islands twice(spent a total of 7 weeks in the cooks), an incredibly beautiful place. would love to visit Tuvalu, tokelau & kiribati & disappear there. problem: what can I do with my stamps, since it is very hot & humid there? any tips appreciated....here below is a picture of my favorite tuvalu stamp sheet(ordered directly from the philatelic bureau in tuvalu) and a couple of pictures of Aitutaki in the cooks....the photo I ve put of the tuvalu stamps is regarding the south pacific forum 1986. but the light in the photo doesn't make justice to these beautiful stamps....

Rod, check your Captain Cook sheet, row 1, stamp 2 and see if it has the "rock in water" variety. I THINK I see it. It is usually on all plate position 1F. It should look like the scan below.
