I have a very old Scott catalog, so things may have changed, but if you go to Scott Vol. 1 there is a section entitled "Common Design Types". According to my info. there were 202 stamps.

Very popular omnibus set with an elegant design. There is a pretty large supply in the marketplace, so most of the mint stamps will catalog for <$1. I believe the Hong Kong stamp is the high catalog stamp in the set -- should catalog for somewhere between $5-$10 for mint never hinged.

Just remember, I don't type lists like that for just any stamp forum.

I have seen a little album made just for coronation stamps. 8.5x6 inches or something like that. Was probably printed at the time of the coronation.

With respect, I beg to differ. My records show 106 stamps.

I believe 202 is the total number of issues from George VI's coronation omnibus.

Rod,

The stamp that gord had shown was from one of the many sets that were printed for the coronation. Your image does list all of the stamps that were printed at that time including the omnibus sets for a total of 106. My mistake.
This was the closest thing that I can find on the internet that shows all of those stamps. You can see the different sets that there is.

Ceylon is listed in the omnibus. There's a pic of that stamp on that page. It's the 3rd from the bottom, first column. You can see all of the other sets on that a page as well.

Cheers Donna,
don't consider it a mistake, it really depends
on which stamps qualify.
It's nice to have the lists just for the record.
Personally, I think any stamps outside a
common design are <not> "omnibus" but Gibbons throws them in.

About 5 years ago, I hestitated at a bourse, to posess
a collection of all these for $18.
I did a circuit, returned and the album was gone. rats!

Continuing on with the wrong coronation for this topic, I thought this contemporaneous account of KGVI coronation stamp issues, in a general newspaper of New Zealand, was pretty interesting:

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cg...370520.2.202

No doubt that article was clipped and saved by many a Kiwi collector.

The only reason that I have that Coronation set is that the set was given to me. A friend's fiance had passed and he had been collecting since he was a teen himself. My friend had no idea what to do with the collection and when she found out that I was collecting stamps, she just gave me the whole kit n kaboodle. That set I found in the bottom of one of the boxes.
