I got a couple of those as well, with 1.000 and 10.000 nominations. They're indeed quite attractive...

Leadership defined by might! Just the thing we see in Cuba, Russia and elsewhere (including the US?).

It is nice to know that there are tanks guarding the Gates of Heaven.

The things we learn with stamps...

[EDIT: corrected to indicate dot is in button, not on collar. Sorry.]

Nice pic! The dot in the button next to the collar reveals that the stamp is a reprint.

Tinus_NL, your 10000 stamp will be a Northeast Postal Service issue, not the Central Government issue. Again, look for the dot in the collar button to determine if original or reprint. The originals are quite valuable in sound condition.

I have always had a problem with this.

Gates? Heaven?

An inverse corollory, indicating interpretation by mere humans.

yes khj , it does appear to be a reprint.
Why would it be one? reprints are just that re- prints..maybe they ran out after first printing? or was it brought back to like many years later?
This particular stamp hasnt seen the light of day for 40 years...

Yes, they were reprinted later for the express purpose of sales to collectors. Most reprints exist in large quantities, so they are far less expensive than the originals. However, a set of mint reprints for this stamp will still command $5-$10 RETAIL in the current market. Any used reprints will be CTOs.

In most cases, the plates were retouched for the reprints. On some other issues, the plates were the same, but the paper or ink are slightly different.

Tony, good point -- Tian An Men means Gate of Heavenly Peace.
