I have a group of stamps which I surmise are from Argentina, but I can't seem to locate any information on them. Looking for information on date, country, and value. Thanks.

Welcome echizento.

These are local issues, issued in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Because of this they are not in most stamp catalogs. The stamps can be valuable, with a catalog value above $50 in some cases.

For more information I recommend:

Here is a closed auction listing for a similar set.

Thanks for the information. These came out of an old album that I recently bought. I'm in the process of going through it and transferring the stamps to a newer album.

They are listed in Scott. It should be at the very end of the Argentina listings, probably the last page or two, under the subsection Buenos Aires.

Counterfeits and reprints outnumber originals by something on the order of 1000 to 1.

These are Forgeries of the Buenos Aires stamps. You can tell right away by the color of the background. If they were real you would be looking at SEVERAL Thousand Dollars!

I don't have any of the Scott's books yet so I'm at a loss. Can you explain how to tell the real from fake. What color is the background supposed to be?

Yours appear to be on light Manila paper. The originals are on white paper.

Illustrating the advantage of using a good thread topic
a simple search using "Buenos Aires" (subject only)
would have you here
https://goscf.com/t/5831&SearchTerms=buenos,aires

With respect, if you are going to use "help ID these stamps"
it will be of use to no one in the future.
