I'd just like to remind everyone that Machins were also used in Hong Kong. Here are a couple |

Well I've sorted through about 20kg and haven't even got to a basic set yet. |

let's just take the basic set, not much in it is there? Yes, only get the money to the nearest Machin Shop. And you got a 400+ Level 1 easy & cheap, with not challenge it. But you got a Mint set! now try the same, looking a used set? Or go up to a level 2 or level 3, not challenge? OK the last level had more than 20000 different Machins. Not cheap anymore? Buy a kiloware and start a used level 1 FM |

Bee I sort most everything that way. I call it the stratigraphic filing system. You just have to be careful to have a good base, otherwise the whole thing topples over. |

novato, in your last post you state that there are 20,000 different Machins. Are you sure that number is correct because I thought that there were only a few thousand different Machins. I am collecting both MNH and used Machins (including the regionals) but only have about 800 different copies. Looks like few of us will ever live to complete a Machin collection. |

The extended machin set could include all different printers, print direction, phosphor bands, gum, paper, perf type, booklet varieties (imperf sides/cut perfs) and now the various security features etc. For something so seemingly simple to the casual observer there is a massive amount of potential for philatic study.

Cheers all! I didn't post the regionals for that reason I have a fair amount of duplicates for trading. Hi LB1, Do you mean this one? I only have this on a FDC. |
