alyn - Welcome to SCF! And thanks for your interesting post. I for one had no idea that the origins of the Grey Cup went back so far.

Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting a runner holding a torch and a palm branch, designed and engraved by Jacques Combet, and issued by Central African Republic on December 24, 1962 to publicize the Tropics Cup Games, held in Bangui, Scott No. C9. Nice six-pack!

Darts, printed by photogravure (Austrian State Printing Works, Vienna), and issued by Yemen on March 30, 1964 as one of a set of stamps depicting local sports, Scott No. 6401. Note: Despite the five interlocking rings included in the design of this stamp, darts is definitely not an official Olympic sport.

(The Onion?) news flash: International Olympic Committee drops wrestling from the Olympic Games! Many ancient Greeks are no doubt spinning in their graves.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting traditional wrestlers, designed and engraved by Albert Decaris, and issued by Senegal on September 30, 1961, Scott No. 201.
