Thanks again jorgesurcl.
I am just wondering if you would know the Scott catalogue number, or, and other established catalogue number for it?.
I will include these images as well.

Not often do I find articles out of the different stamp papers and magazines, but, when I do, I like to keep them. This is one I have scanned for my files but thought I would post in here. Chimo Bujutsu |

Here is an image of a stamp honoring a classic film which many people consider the greatest martial arts movie of all time, Seven Samurai (1954), and its renowned Japanese director, Akira Kurosawa (1910-1998), designed by Hideto Yamash1ta, engraved by Claude Jumelet, and issued by Monaco on February 24, 2010, Scott No. 2583, plus a YouTube link to a trailer for Seven Samurai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnRUHtSgJ9o Note: SCF's filter automatically censored the correct spelling of the designer's surname. - nethryk |

I have seen the "Seven Samurai" a couple of times. It is a long movie but, very interesting and entertaining.

Bujutsu - Thanks. Glad you liked that one. Of course, as a diehard fan of Akira Kurosawa's films, I feel that Seven Samurai is far too short. - nethryk PS: SS trivia: I have read that Seiji Miyaguchi (1913-1985), the Japanese actor who played the rôle of Kyuzo, the master swordsman, had never even held a katana before production on this film began! That's what I call a quick study. |

Here is an image of an engraved stamp depicting a judo match, issued by Japan on May 2, 1956 to publicize the First World Judo Championship, held on May 3 at Kuramae Kokugikan in Tokyo, Scott No. 619. Note: There were NO weight classes back in those days. - nethryk |

Judo and Taekwon-do are the fighting systems/martial arts most featured on stamps because they are Olympic sports. I could create personalized stamps with any martial art, if I find copyright-free images. For MMA (mixed martial arts), for example, I'd love to get permission from Fedor Emelianenko and the Korean Giant to use that picture showing Fedor's victory by submission (armbar). :) |
