As to the "Prevent Forest Fires" slogan cancel previously posted, here's the full example, which use dates back to at least 1952 (in a slightly different style): |

Found a few more "Buy Bonds" slogan cancels through the years: From 1936 (different font style than the one used in 1941): Two from 1941 (note they changed the slogan from "Savings Bonds" to "Defense Bonds" during WWII): From 1953 (this time promoting Bonds via the Payroll Savings plan: |

This is a cancel that is applied to covers sent to the USPS at NASA KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA. They have recently allowed collectors to send covers for cancellation on July 8, 2011, date of the last Shuttle flight. |

I was just ready to start a very similar topic, but it makes much more sense to post here. In the first row, the good placement of a cancel turns a simple fly-fishing lure into a super Star Trek representation. The second row shows how the placement of a Panda Bear can change one's expression quite dramatically. The last stamp is my favorite as it shows a perfect framing of the girl on the right. I doubt that I could get the person behind the counter to do a better job. |

The rubber stamped 'Air Mail' is interesting IMO compared to the stick on ones. (The pre paid 2c is noted as DIE 4) |
