There speaks the eternal optimist, spock!

Whereas of course it's much more likely that the SA bowlers will have that effect on the Indian team next week!

Russ,
the thing about cricket, it was a metaphor for life
and an example of good behaviour.
When batting, you strode out to the centre, quite alone,
with 11 people that didn't like you very much,
you faced what ever they threw at you, preparing to
take some bruises, and if you knicked the ball with
the bat, you were expected to own up, and walk out.
It was a gentlemans game.

Of course that has all changed now, and the hungry
media focuses on everything that is bad, bad behaviour
sells newsprint, every six balls delivered we get
reminded of the latest american hamburger on offer.
It was once quite a thrilling spectacle, but like a
cricket ball that's gone down 100 deliveries, it's lost
some of it's shine.

Rod,
In the U.S. sports has also changed, sportsmanship has been replaced with showmanship. But we still have youth and high school sports where the love of the game is still important.

David,

The SA were so scared they have made a designer pitch who wins the toss will wint he match and they have done their homework they know Dhoni cant win the toss if his life depended on it. He has won just one toss this whole year. a totally useless fellow when it comes to calling the coin

Ah, but then ALL pitches in India are designed for your bowlers, so we're just trying to even things out . . .

Perhaps Dhoni should ask Lakshmi for some help with the toss?

certainly not we gave them 2 green tops on the last 2 tours so they could win one test each I say they must repeat the favor and give us a dust bowl ( we dont get designer pitches in india due to the politics for the last 2 seasons or so) in the third test if we manage to draw the second.

And even better after Day 2 (mind you, I see that England is having to rely on their South African batsmen again - Strauss, Trott, Pieterson and Prior scored 336 of the 427 runs off the bat) . . .
